PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINING
Paws Afoot Social Responsibility
Founder, Susan Jacobi, created this organization to make information and tools easily accessible for those who have experienced childhood trauma in any form, but especially from sexual abuse, to heal and move ahead in their adult lives.
When a person and a dog, both of whom have experienced trauma in their lives connect, the relationship between them can be profound and life-changing. One of my most rewarding specialties is helping shelter and rescue dogs and the people who adopt them adjust to each other and to start on the journey of mutual healing.
"People Helping Dogs and Dogs Helping People" is the cornerstone of my business philosophy and is what I try to incorporate into every interaction I have with people and dogs. I believe there is so much healing power that can occur in this unique bond and that both sides benefit equally from caring for each other.
To that end, I support the following non-profit organizations by providing training to help the adoptors and the dogs they rescue create a human-animal relationship that will grow, flourish and provide healing for the rest of their lives.
This wonderful local Washington organization takes in dogs from over-crowded shelters and other situations and places them in foster homes until they find their new forever home. The owners, Diane and Lissa, are deeply dedicated to finding these dogs a loving home. If a dog is difficult to place, he or she remains in the foster home. They have a forever home whether it's with them or a new owner.
My part in supporting them is providing the dogs with difficult issues and their new owners with a donated "Getting To Know You", two-session package to help people understand their dog's behavior and to give them the tools to develop a trusting, happy and loving relationship.
